DINNER MEETS FINE ART
Dinner and a show is one thing, but dinner inspired by famous works of art? That's a little different.
Mary Lou's Palm Beach is hosting The Surreal Meal Wednesday evening, an immersive five-course dining experience created in collaboration with artist Cayla Birk of The Palatte.
The menu takes inspiration from well-known artists, including Frida Kahlo and Salvador Dalí, transforming their creative styles into inventive dishes. Guests are also encouraged to dress in black with an avant-garde twist, making the evening feel a little more like an art event than a traditional dinner reservation.
At $250 per person, it's definitely a splurge, but it's also one of the more unusual dining experiences on this week's calendar.
Where: Mary Lou's Palm Beach, 250 Southern Boulevard, West Palm Beach
When: Wednesday, October 21
Cost: $250 per person
Good fit for: Food lovers, art enthusiasts, special occasions and anyone looking for a memorable night out.
SIX DECADES OF ART IN ONE EXHIBITION
The Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens is showcasing the work of acclaimed artist and master printmaker Sylvia Schuster in an exhibition titled Pathos.

The exhibition explores more than six decades of Schuster's artistic career through charcoal, collage, multimedia and printmaking. Her work focuses on the human experience, using different techniques and materials to explore emotion, identity and the world around us.
It's a chance to see a wide range of work from one artist while exploring one of West Palm Beach's distinctive cultural spaces.
Where: Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens, 253 Barcelona Road, West Palm Beach
When: Wednesday and Thursday, October 21–22 | 10:00 AM–4:00 PM
Good fit for: Art lovers, creative minds and anyone looking for a quieter afternoon activity.
MAHJONG WITH A TWIST
If you've been curious about mahjong but never quite knew where to start, Wednesday evening might be your chance.

Mahjong + Martinis at AKA West Palm brings together a little friendly competition and a relaxed social atmosphere.
Guests can take part in a guided lesson with the Mahj Palm Society or join an open game if they're already familiar with the rules. It's a different way to spend an evening, whether you're looking to learn something new or simply get out with friends.
Where: AKA West Palm, West Palm Beach
When: Wednesday, October 21 | 5:30–7:30 PM
Good fit for: Friends, game lovers, beginners and anyone interested in trying something new.
HAVE A SAY IN WHAT'S HAPPENING DOWNTOWN
Not every community event has to revolve around food, music or entertainment.
The West Palm Beach Downtown Development Authority is hosting a Community Open House Wednesday afternoon, inviting residents, business owners, downtown employees and other community members to stop by.

Visitors can meet the DDA team, learn about current downtown initiatives, ask questions and share their thoughts about the future of the area.
It's a good opportunity for anyone interested in the changes happening downtown to get involved in the conversation.
Where: West Palm Beach Downtown Development Authority, 107 S. Olive Avenue, Suite 200
When: Wednesday, October 21 | 3:30–6:30 PM
Cost: Free
Good fit for: Downtown residents, business owners and anyone interested in the local community.
R&B TAKES OVER THE WATERFRONT
Thursday evening brings another round of free live music to the West Palm Beach waterfront as Clematis by Night welcomes the Dee Dee Wilde Band.

The five-piece group performs a mix of R&B, Top 40 favorites and soulful ballads, bringing plenty of variety to the stage.
Whether you're meeting friends after work, planning a casual date night or simply looking for an excuse to spend a few hours outside, it's an easy way to ease into the weekend.
Bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy the music overlooking the waterfront.
Where: Centennial Square & Great Lawn, 100 N. Clematis Street, West Palm Beach
When: Thursday, October 22 | 6:00–9:00 PM
Cost: Free
Good fit for: Live music, date nights, groups of friends and a relaxed evening downtown.
THAT'S IT FOR THIS WEEK!
This week's calendar has a little more variety than the usual fall festivities.
Whether you're exploring a new art exhibition, trying your hand at mahjong, enjoying a creative dining experience or heading downtown for live music, there are a few ways to make the middle of the week more interesting.
And with Halloween just around the corner, the weekend calendar is only getting busier.
